Ionian and Dorian Mode Scales

Figure 31 below shows the Ionian and Dorian mode scales, and the interval orders for each. You can play these mode scales by starting of the C and D white keys on the piano, respectively. These modes, and the others, will be referred to henceforth as the “Church modes” (which will no doubt irritate some history-of-music-theory purists). Note that in Figure 31
