5.1.5 Blues Scale Minor and Blues Scale Major: Is There a Difference?
In a word, no.
The blues scale (Figure 26 below) is almost the same as the minor pentatonic scale, except that it has an extra note in the middle. The addition of that extra note, sometimes called a blue note, gives this scale a considerably different sound from the minor pentatonic.
The graphic below shows the notes of the blues scale. It's sometimes called the minor blues scale. The are other scales that claim to be blues scales, such as the so-called major blues scale, which you can look up elsewhere.
